2019.10.28: League Manager Report:
Congratulations to Hawaii Physical Therapy for winning the 2019 League’s Championship Game in 10 innings. This game illustrated just how competitive this year’s Manoa Makule League were, with just 1-½ games separating the top 6 teams. In fact, Masa’s Team finished the regular season in First Place, ½ game ahead of a three-way tied for Second Place Hawaii Physical Therapy, Doc Sharon, and Team Gardner. And all will also agree that it was fun, with Keiki-Ade winning their first game in what seems like an eternity in years. All this was made possible by the 10 teams that participated, their sponsors, managers, and players.
A special thanks to League Manager Dunn Muramaru and his ground crew Craig Hayashi, Ryan Sumida, Dave Inouye, Eric Koike, Traci Kitaoka, Rich Ogomori, Todd Jimbo, Ted Okada, Kyle Higuchi, Kyle Murata, Marc Dixon, Matt Wakabayashi, Mike Steward and Alex Takemura for their meticulously preparation and caring of the three Manoa Park Fields despite some rainy days; thanks to Phil Doi for his legal advice regarding the League’s Constitution and Bylaws, thanks to Jed Sasaki and his Umpire Crew for an outstanding job, and thanks to the League’s Webmaster Vernon Yoshida for the wonderful https:// Manoamakule.org.
Most of the original teams name have changed over the years except maybe Manoa AC. Masa’s Team was named for Masa Okumura in 1996, the team manager who along with George Muramaru and Bob Inouye were some of the original charter members of the Manoa Makule League almost 60 years ago. Some of Masa’s Team names prior were Okumura Gas, Manoa Finance, and Senator Ann, to mention a few. Masa’s Team second generation team players include George Muramura’s Dunn, and Bob Inouye’s Dave.
Next year’s Team Manager will be Caldwell. We wish them the very best.
